There is big news for Big B fans Amitabh Bachchan has been chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award. The 76-year legendary actor has been chosen for India’s highest award in Cinema. Amitabh gets Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2019.
Dadasaheb Phalke award is annually presented at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals. This year, 2019 Amitabh is going to receive the honour.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said through a post on Twitter, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for two generations has been selected unanimously for Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The entire country and the international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him.”

Big B made his film debut in 1969, as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s National Award-winning film Bhuvan Shome. Amitabh won four National Film Awards as Best Actor and many awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies. He has won fifteen Filmfare Awards.
Amitabh is called as India’s “angry young man” for his on-screen roles in Bollywood. He is been honoured with some prestigious awards like the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015, will now be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2019.
