Andhra Pradesh New EC
The AP government has removed the existing Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and appointed a new Commissioner. The government has appointed retired Judge Kanagaraju as the EC for Andhra Pradesh. He served as a judge of the Madras High Court and also a member of various commissions.
The government has made a sensational decision to remove Ramesh Kumar for postponing the local body elections. An ordinance has been issued regarding this extent. The government has also reduced its tenure to three years.
They had also made another change in the rule. The post that has been handed over to retired IASs has now gone to the retired High Court judges. The state cabinet meeting held online for the ordinance approval. Later it has sent to Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan for the approval.
He approved these ordinances and the government has sent three GO’s. These orders were issued in connection with local body elections in the rural areas. A bio has issued to enforce the ordinance. Subsequently in accordance with the Ordinance, Panchayati Raj was issued by Gopalakrishna Dwivedi G.O. No. 617, Chief Secretary, Rural Development Department.
