Apartment Wall Collapsed In Pune 15 Died And Many Cars Struck

Apartment Wall Collapsed In Pune:

In a tragedic incident in Pune in the early hours around 1:45 am, Fifteen people have died and three injured after a residential apartment wall was collapsed early this morning after heavy rain. Pune received the second highest rainfall on Friday in June since 2010.

Visuals showed several cars stuck in debris in Pune’s Kondhwa area. The wall crashed down into sheds next to the apartment building taking down the parked cars on to the sheds. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital. The sheds were built for labourers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh working at a construction site nearby, the police said.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the fire department plunged into the action searching for people who may be stuck in the debris. The 15-feet-high compound wall collapsed at around 1:45 am as per the reports.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condoled the deaths. “Extremely saddened to know about the loss of lives in the Kondhwa, Pune wall collapse incident. My deepest condolences to the families and prying for a speedy recovery of the injured. Directed Pune Collector to conduct an in-depth enquiry,” he tweeted.


 

Pune saw heavy rain on Friday. Pune received 73.1 millimetres of rain in 24 hours, the second highest rainfall in June since 2010.
