Modi led BJP Government took the bravest decision in the history of India. Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, will be scrapped, said Home Minister Amit Shah in parliament this morning. Jammu and Kashmir will be reorganized and will no longer be a state. Ladakh will be a Union Territory without an assembly and Jammu and Kashmir will be a Union Territory with an assembly, under the proposal. There will be two Lieutenant Governors.
The announcement came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting of his cabinet at his house this morning. Article 370 of the constitution is a ‘temporary provision’ which grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Kashmiri political leaders are terribly upset with revoking Article 370. Former CM Mehbobba Mufti called it the darkest day in Indian democracy while another ex-CM and veteran congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad said, BJP government has murdered the Indian Constitution. Centre has deployed another 8000 troops to the Kashmir valley.
