Bye, Bye TikTok :
Government of India has asked Google and Apple to remove TikTok from their app stores, the missive comes after the Supreme Court refused to stay an earlier diktat by the Madras High Court to ban the app.
Recently, TikTok became a huge hit amongst the masses especially tier2 and 3 cities. The increasing popularity and the youngster’s presence, both caught the eye of global brands too. Now yesterday, Madras high court has directed a ban on #TikTok app. The reason being an app like these spoil the future of youngsters and it is also an intrusion to privacy. This app is already banned in Bangladesh and Indonesia.
On one hand this app was providing the platter for thought to social scientists and on the other hand, Ethics and morality issues were of concern. The major question which needs attention is? Why youth is interested in putting energy and time to become popular amongst the masses with content which is raising questions? Has too much of internet and penetration of mobile devices also has a dark side which is impacting the pillars of society “Youth”? Even internet policing will face its own challenges.
If anything becomes too much of an obsession, boon also becomes a bane.
