Lander Vikram will soft-land Chandrayaan2 on Moon on September 7, 2019. It would take another two weeks’ time from now. This is the key phase of entering Lunar Orbit said to be the crucial stage in which Chandrayaan2 successfully entered and it is out of Earth’s gravitational force and will enter into Moon’s gravity.
If Chandrayaan2 lands on the Moon, India is the fourth country to achieve this feat along with the US, Russia, and China.
The scientific goals of Chandrayaan2 include studies of lunar topography, mineralogy, elemental abundance, the lunar exosphere, and signatures of hydroxyl and water ice.
