Chidambaram Arrested By CBI

At last former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader, P Chidambaram arrested by CBI and taken into CBI custody from his residence. CBI officials who arrived at his residence have taken him in their vehicle to CBI headquarters in Delhi.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram son of P Chidambaram said this arrest was a totally political vendetta. He said his father was not absconding as he was a responsible citizen. Chidambaram spoke to media in Congress Head Quarters that speculations about he is missing, and shocked.

Palaniappan Chidambaram is currently serving as Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and formerly served as the Union Minister of Finance of India.

He was the Finance Minister starting in May 2004 through 2014, except for a three and a half year beginning from November 2008 as Home Minister. Chidambaram returned as Finance Minister in July 2012, succeeding Pranab Mukherjee, who left the post to become the President of India. On 20th August 2019, Delhi High Court dismissed both anticipatory bail pleas of Chidambaram in connection with INX Media case.

Chidambaram is arrested by CBI taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for medical examination.
