Congress MLA Attacked By Party Cadre For Joining TRS

MLA Banothu Haripriya won the 2018 election on the Congress ticket in Yellendu, Khammam district Telangana ditched Congress party and joined TRS party recently.

Accompanied by TRS local activists, Haripriya visited Govindrala village to campaign for the victory of TRS loyalists for the MPTC and ZPTC elections. There was also some local police force. Still, the Congress party cadre in the village came out in large numbers and opposed the MLA. They picked up heated arguments saying that they fought very hard for her victory. But now the MLA Banothu Haripriya came to their village to ask for support to their rivals in the village. It was quite an embarrassing situation for the Congress party cadre.

The tensions increased as the TRS activists also gathered in large numbers and opposed the Congress cadre. They attacked each other with chappals and pelting with stones. The police couldn’t control the situation as the clashing groups far outnumbered them.

MLA Haripriya had no choice but to leave the village midway with the help of local police. Both the party activists were injured in the confrontation. Later the situation came under control a while after the Haripriya left the Govindrala village.
