Corona Domestic Kits Ready, Tests 90 Samples At A Time

World countries have been locked down for this virus. However, the ICMR-based Pune National Institute of Virology has developed Elisa-based antibody test kits with complete indigenous knowledge. The central government has named it COVID Kavach Elisa. Harshavardhan, Union Minister of Health, said that the functioning of these kits has been confirmed at two locations in Mumbai. These Corona Test Kits are very faster compared to other kits.

The specialty of these kits is that they are able to test 90 samples simultaneously in two and a half hours, as the standards are high and accurate. They are able to perform a large number of corona tests at a cheaper rate, faster and at once. These tests can be performed at any level of public health centers and hospitals. It is said that technology is transferred to Zydus Cadila to produce these kits on a large scale.

The Drug Controller General has given permission to Zydus to manufacture and market these kits. Biosecurity requirements for maintenance of these are low compared to RT PCR tests. ICMR has discontinued Chinese antibody kits because of poor quality. With domestic kits now available, antibody testing is gaining momentum nationwide.
