Donald Trump signals temporarily immigration ban through an executive order in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and to protect American jobs.
“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States! (sic),” Donald Trump, who has encouraged anti-lockdown protests roiling parts of the country, tweeted this morning.
The move, effectively achieves a long-term Trump policy goal to curb immigration, making use of the situation that has swept the country as a result of the pandemic to do so. Critics say the government is using the pandemic to crackdown on immigration. Also a distraction for the faulty response in taking the measures to control corona.
It hasn’t been clear what programs might get affected as Donald Trump signals temporarily immigration ban. Also, whether the president would be able to carry out the order.
