Israel Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said on Monday that Israel isolates coronavirus antibody at its main biological research laboratory in Ness Ziona, calling the step a “significant breakthrough” toward a possible treatment for the coronavirus pandemic.
Also said The “monoclonal neutralizing antibody” developed at the Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) “can neutralize it (the disease-causing coronavirus) inside carriers bodies.
The defense minister said the process of developing the vaccine has been completed and now the process of patenting. Therefore, mass production will take place in the next stage with the help of international manufacturers. IIBR Director Shmuel Shapira said the developmental stage for the antibody was complete. The antibody has yet to receive an official name.
However, Israel is one of the first countries to close its borders and impose strict restrictions on movement to hamper the coronavirus outbreak. It has reported more than 16,000 cases and 235 deaths from the virus.
