The biggest threat the Environment Department has already warned is locusts. These locust troop, which had never been seen in India before, arrived in Kenya 20 years ago. These were known as the most devastating colonial pest. Locust is a group of millions of grasshoppers formed into a group and is known as the locust.
One big grasshopper feeds the equivalent of his body weight for the day. A small group of grasshoppers can feed 10 elephants or 25 camels or 2,500 humans in a single day. Desert grasshoppers are the most dangerous of the grasshoppers. There are at least 8 crore locusts per sq km. They can travel up to 150 km depending on the wind direction per day, and if they appear anywhere else, they will stop there and produce their offspring for some time.
They survive for 90 days, and after hatching one grasshopper for two days, they develop within 45 days and grow two eggs on their own. Telangana and Andhra are now under threat.
