India vs Westindies:
The T20 series between India vs Westindies started yesterday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has been very good for India. In the first match, India defeated the West Indies by six wickets thanks to the master of chasing, Indian team captain, Virat Kohli, and the new T20 opener KL Rahul. They made chasing look easy by winning with 8 balls to spare.
King Kohli scored an unbeaten 94 in 50 balls with the help of 6 fours and 6 sixes. He was awarded Man of the Match award for playing the much-needed captain innings. This was the 12th time in his career to get a Man of the Match award in T20’s. Also, he holds the world record for the most number of man of the match awards in T20 international cricket along with Afghanistan player Mohammad Nabi.
Apart from Kohli, Lokesh Rahul has contributed with 62 runs in this victory of India. Also, KL Rahul completed 1000 runs in T20 Internationals in this innings. With this, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series and also became the first team to win the T20 International by chasing a target of more than 200 three times.
Chasing a target of 208 runs, Team India expected big innings from hitman Rohit Sharma, but he could not do anything special. Right from the start, he looked a bit uncomfortable and was able to catch up with the scoring rate and got out cheaply for 8 runs in 10 balls. After that, it all started with Kohli joining Rahul and getting a 100 run partnership.
However, Kohli didn’t start up well in the game as he is trying to get into his groove before getting going. Westindies players also didn’t do any favor themselves by making a heating exchange with him. Westindies bowler Kesrick Williams had gone up to Kohli and trying to rub his shoulders while the master of chasing trying to take the ones and twos.
This made him Kohli very angry and he has gone into more determination mode and made the chase look easy. Shot of the day has come up against Kesrick Williams where Kohli managed to whip the yorker for a six over mid-wicket. After this shot, Kohli did the Caribbean Premier League(CPL) notebook celebration which made the game look very interesting. Chadwick Walton did this to Williams after he scored a fifty in CPL.
Before this Westindies managed to post a big total of 207/5 with the help of Evin Lewis and Hetmeyer scoring 50. Pollard also played captain innings of scoring 37 runs in 19 balls. Westindies also managed to score 15 sixes in their innings. Indian bowlers got an off day yesterday with all the Westindies batsmen score some runs in the match.
