Police Booked Case Against Akbaruddin Owaisi

Police booked a case against MIM Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for making communally annoying and provoking statements at a meeting in Karimnagar on June 23. An immediate complaint was raised by district BJP chief to the police in June itself but no case was booked against the MIM leader. In association with the controversy, Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy gave a clean chit saying to media that Akbaruddin’s statement has no such annoying content.

Now BJP Karimnagar City President Beti Mahender Reddy submitted video clippings and submitted his petition to the court. He pleaded before the court to take necessary action against MIM leader Akbaruddin for trying to disturb harmony and brotherhood among the people of different religions.

The court ordered the police to register a case against Akbaruddin under Sect 153-A (violent attack on a religion), 153-B (harming national integration) and 506 (using threats and criminal intimidation) of IPC and also under 156(3) (for proper investigation) of CrPC. Section 506 is a non-bailable offence and police booked a case against Akbaruddin Owaisi.

The court included it as the petitioner complained that Akbaruddin’s speeches were in the nature of threatening followers of one particular religion.
