Sachin Career Changing Advice
Sachin Tendulkar, The god of cricket, has completed 25 years in international cricket successfully. However, He revealed the best advice he got in his international cricket. It has come from the current Indian head coach, then senior cricketer Ravi Shastri.
Actually what happened was Sachin made his international cricket debut in 1989 against Pakistan at the age of 16. Sachin Tendulkar faced Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in his very first match and was able to score just 15 runs in the first innings.
Sachin Tendulkar recently shared his experience with former England captain Nasir Hussain and said, ‘ I felt like I was not fit to play at this level. Wasim and Waqar were bowling very fast and they were bowling short-pitch balls. Every single short ball was intimidating. I hadn’t seen anything like this before. Later after my dismissal, I felt quite embarrassed when I was returning to the dressing room. I went straight to the bathroom. Tears were coming out of my eyes. I was feeling like this place is not for me. I was questioning myself. Looks like this is going to be the first and last outing. I felt that I am not worthy to play at this level. I was very disappointed and feeling lost.’
Then I got great advice from Ravi Shastri, Sachin said. Ravi Shastri told me, ” You played like a school match. You are playing against the best bowlers; you need to respect their ability and their skill.” Then I said, I got beaten by pace. Then Ravi told,” It happens to many people, don’t worry. You just go and try to spend half an hour in the field after that you will get used to their speed and everything will be fine. ”
Sachin added, “Then it worked like magic. In the next match, I hadn’t looked at the scoreboard. I just looked at the clock. I batted for half an hour, and I felt really comfortable and I scored 59 runs in that match, and after that things started changing.”
After this, Sachin never looked back in his bright career, he made a mark of records. He scored 15921 runs in 200 Tests at an average of 53.78. He scored 51 centuries and 68 fifties in his international cricket.
