Telangana Police Arrested Two Goats
Telangana Police arrested two goats for grazing on saplings planted by an NGO in the government hospital. It sounds unnatural but this bizarre incident took place in Huzurabad town of Karimnagar district. Save The Trees volunteers Anil and Vikranth, on Tuesday caught the goats while grazing on trees and handed over them to police. The two goats were brought to the police station and tied to a pole in police station premises.
Police Inspector Vasamshetty Madhavi told to media that the goats were released after their owner named Rajaiah paid a Rs 1,000 penalty to municipal officials on Wednesday. The police took the action on a complaint by NGO activists of ‘Save the Trees’ that goats grazed about 150 saplings planted on the premises of a government hospital.
Police confirmed that there was no such section in the Indian Penal Code to arrest animals but they fined their owner, Dornakonda Rajaiah from Kummariwada locality, for leaving them freely without assistance. Police asked the owner to feed the goats on the outskirts of the city or in the home itself.
