yesterday, the last day for filing nominations, a transgender Tamanna Simhadri filed her nomination in Mangalagiri as an independent. Tamanna is the first and only transgender candidate from Andhra Pradesh to file nomination for the upcoming general elections.

She is from Vijayawada and told to media that she decided to contest in elections to fight for the rights of the transgender community. As per election affidavit, She had done her graduation from Indira Gandhi Open University with a bank balance of Rs 50,000.

“These days, elections have become a game for only rich and mighty. Only those with huge money power are able to become MLAs and MPs. I am only trying to put an end to this practice and show that even a transgender can win the cause of the people,” she said.
