NewDelhi: Urmila Matondkar, a heartthrob in ’90s joined the CongressParty in presence of Party president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi today. As per sources, Urmila is likely to be given Mumbai North Lok Sabha ticket from Congress. Earlier Sanjay Nirupam former Mumbai Congress president on Monday declined to comment on the matter.
Mumbai consists of 6 Lok Sabha constituencies, which the poll date is on April 29 as the fourth phase of polling. Urmila Matondkar’s rival would be BJP MP Gopal Shetty.
Urmila started her career as a child artist aged seven in a Marathi film, Zaakol (1980). After then she acted in several critically acclaimed films.”Rangeela” changed her fate and raised as a star heroine in Bollywood, which was directed by RamGopal Varma. She is well known in the South film industry also.
